PROSTHETIC & ORTHOTICS

Our Prosthetics & Orthotics team ensures that our patients can move freely and independently. They are experts in designing, constructing, fitting and adjusting prosthetic and orthotic devices, specifically tailoring each one for the needs of each patient – both adults and children. In 2015, CCBRT’s technical staff produced 1,192 orthotic devices and 70 prostheses.

Our P&O workshop was selected as the home of African Operations for the International Committee of the Red Cross MoveAbility Foundation. This organisation hosts intensive trainings on management of specific pathologies and injuries for clinicians throughout Africa and Asia.

This year, with Nia Technology’s support, the P&O team piloted a faster, cutting edge device manufacturing technique: 3D printing. This new tool allows our technicians to produce more personalised devices in less time than the traditional method.
